What is a sober coach? A sober coach is a paid professional who helps you build a daily life that supports recovery: a rhythm you can keep, honest check-ins, and support at the moments that carry risk. Coaching is not therapy or treatment. It sits alongside your meetings, your sponsor, and your treatment team — and it starts with a free conversation.

Who this is for

For you

You’re trying to get sober, newly sober, or holding on and tired of white-knuckling it. You don’t have to be sober to start — you are welcome exactly as you are.

For your family

You love somebody in it, and you’re carrying fear you can’t put down. Families can book the first conversation too — calmly, privately, with no pressure attached.

What coaching gives you

Structure

A rhythm you can keep

A daily structure built with you — wake time, movement, meetings or community, work, one honest check-in. Simple enough to survive a hard day.

Accountability

Somebody who notices

Scheduled sessions plus brief check-ins between them. You report honestly; drift gets named early, while it’s still small.

Accompaniment

Not alone at the hard parts

In-person support for the moments that carry risk: the first meeting back, a family event, the first days home after treatment, a hard anniversary.

Family

Calm for the people who love you

With your written consent, families get scheduled, honest updates — enough for them to step back and let the work work.

Navigation

The right door, opened

Warm handoffs to meetings, therapists, treatment programs, and community resources when you need more than coaching. We know the landscape.

What coaching is — and isn’t

Coaching is

Non-clinical, one-on-one support for the daily work of recovery: structure, accountability, accompaniment, and honest conversation with a man who has lived it.

Coaching is not

Not therapy — no diagnosis, no treatment. Not medical care — no medical advice and no detox support; medical questions go to medical professionals, immediately. Not AA and not a sponsor — coaching complements your fellowship and your sponsor; it never replaces them. Not crisis care — if you are in crisis, call 988 first.

No outcome promises. Ever. We can promise presence, honesty, and structure. Nobody honest can promise sobriety — and nobody here will try to sell you that.

Meet your coach

Cash Emerson Roper is the founder of Halsey Heals — and he is in recovery himself. Before this work he spent years as a teacher and a head coach, which is the register he still works in: demanding, honest, and completely in your corner.

His background is wider than most coaches bring into a room. He went to the University of Mississippi. He visited China with his school in 2008 and lived there in 2013. He has lived on farms in Florida, Montana, South Carolina, and Georgia, and worked land and animals — he knows a life gets rebuilt the way a farm runs: up early, same care every day. He has owned businesses with up to 350 independent contractors working in them, and he works in marketing today. He plays saxophone and drums, is learning piano, and has produced his own music since 2018.

He built his own recovery one day at a time, out loud, and he started Halsey Heals so nobody has to do it alone. In his word, he is stoked to do this work — and the first conversation is always free.

Don’t take our word for any of it. His recovery is documented on camera across the entire Season 4 of the television show Montana Society — watch it on the Most High Media YouTube channel. He also tells the journey in his own words in a long-form interview on The Cattywampus Podcast, Episode 18 — “Cash Roper”.

How it works

  1. Book a free first conversation. Twenty to thirty minutes, by phone or in person. No pressure and no pitch — we find out if this fits.
  2. We build your rhythm. Together we set the structure: sessions, check-ins, and the plan for the hard moments.
  3. We work it, and adjust. Life changes; the plan changes with it. You keep your meetings, your sponsor, and your team — coaching holds the middle.

What it costs

First conversation
20–30 minutes. No pressure, no pitch.
Free

Coaching is quoted on that first conversation — never from a price list. Every situation is different: how often we meet, whether you need somebody beside you in person, whether your family is part of the work. The established firms in this field all work the same way, and so do we: the conversation comes first, and you hear the full cost before you decide anything.

Early clients receive founding rates, held for six months. Coaching is private-pay: it is not billed to insurance, and it does not go on a medical record — for many families, that privacy is the point. Everything you share stays confidential; family updates happen only with your written consent.

If you are in crisis right now, coaching is not the first call. Call or text 988 anytime, or SAMHSA at 1-800-662-4357. In an emergency, call 911. When you’re steady, we’ll be here.

Questions people ask

Do I need to be sober before I book?

No. You are welcome exactly as you are. A lot of first conversations happen before day one — that’s often when a plan matters most.

How is a coach different from a sponsor or a therapist?

A sponsor guides your step work inside a fellowship, unpaid. A therapist does clinical work — diagnosis and treatment. A coach is a paid professional for the daily structure around both: rhythm, accountability, and presence. Coaching works best alongside them, never instead of them.

Is this confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between us. Family updates happen only with your written consent, on a schedule you agree to. Coaching is not billed to insurance and does not go on a medical record.

What if I slip?

You call. We look at what happened honestly, adjust the plan, and keep going. Nobody here gets discharged for telling the truth — honesty is the whole method.

What does coaching cost?

It is quoted on your free first conversation, before you commit to anything. The rate depends on the shape of the work — session cadence, in-person accompaniment, family involvement. No surprises and no pressure: if it doesn’t fit, the conversation still costs you nothing.

Is Halsey Heals a treatment program?

No. Halsey Heals offers free resources and non-clinical coaching. If you need treatment, detox, or medical care, we will help you find it and walk you to the door — that help is free, always.
